   NOMINATION CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA

NOMINATION CATEGORIES
Individuals may be nominated to represent one of seven (7) categories. These include:
• Student Athlete
• Activity Participant
• Coach/Activity Sponsor
• Contest Official/Adjudicator
• School Administrator
• Major Contributor.
• Lifetime Achievement.
These categories are established for screening purposes to help those making the nominations understand the type of information required.

STUDENT-ATHLETE AND/OR ACTIVITY PARTICIPANT
School Affiliation
• Graduate of any current or former ASAA member school.
• A graduate of any diploma-granting Alaskan high school which predates the formation of ASAA in 1956.
Eligibility Guidelines
• Eligible ten (10) years following the date of his/her high school graduation.
• A student-athlete must have earned a minimum of two (2) varsity letters in one sport, one letter in two sports, or brought recognition to the school by his/her athletic or activity accomplishments.
• An activity participant must have been a multi-year participant in interscholastic activities at his/her high school.
• Maintains exemplary life of community service and good character which reflects credit to the person, the school and society.
• Exemplary academic achievement shall be considered a desirable qualification.

COACH/ACTIVITY SPONSOR
Eligibility Guidelines
• Eligible five (5) years after retiring from interscholastic service.
• Evidence of an outstanding coaching career.
• Must have had a direct and significant impact on high school athletics and/or activities.

CONTEST OFFICIAL / ADJUDICATOR
Eligibility Guidelines
• Eligible five (5) years after retiring from interscholastic service.
• Evidence of an outstanding officiating/adjudicating career.
• Must have had a direct and significant impact on high school athletics and/or activities.

SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR
Eligibility Guidelines
• Eligible five (5) years after retiring from interscholastic service.
• Evidence of an outstanding administration career.
• Must have had a direct and significant impact on high school athletics and/or activities.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR
• Someone other than a student-athlete/activity participant, coach/activity sponsor, contest official/adjudicator or school administrator.
• Made an extraordinary contribution resulting in a significant benefit, or reflects great credit, to the school or to ASAA.
• Examples such as athletic administrator, state association staff member, sports medicine provider, volunteer, contributor, and media personnel.
